The Digilent JTAG-SMT4 Surface-Mount Programming Module is a compact and comprehensive solution designed for programming and debugging Xilinx FPGAs. It integrates seamlessly with Xilinx Tools, requiring Vivado or Vitis 2020.1 or newer versions. The module features three independent UART channels, each capable of supporting bus speeds up to 12Mbaud, and includes transmit and receive LEDs for each channel.
Equipped with a high-speed USB 2.0 port, the module can drive the JTAG bus at speeds up to 30Mbit/sec, with user-adjustable frequency settings. It includes open drain buffers that enable software-based resets of Xilinx’s Zynq® platform through the PS_SRST_B and PS_POR_B pins. The quad-channel USB controller allows for simultaneous access to both JTAG and UART interfaces.
The module's onboard buffers support JTAG signal operations at voltages ranging from 1.8V to 3.3V. Its small form-factor design allows it to be directly mounted onto target boards, with USB D+ and D- signals routed to pads, facilitating flexible placement of the USB connector on the host PCB. Additionally, the VBUS_DETECT pin helps reduce current consumption when the module is not connected to a PC. The module is CE certified and fully compliant with EU RoHS and REACH directives.
